Naalakkersuisut announced that it expects to publish prequalification documents in October 2026 for the proposed commercial development of the Tasersiaq and Tarsartuup Tasersua hydropower resources.
The two areas represent Greenland’s largest hydropower potentials. Prequalification will allow interested companies to apply for approval to participate in the eventual tender.
Applicants will be evaluated on factors including technical expertise, financial capacity and experience with comparable projects. The process is intended to ensure that only qualified companies advance to the final tender.
Greenland’s Minister for Environment, Nature, Energy and Research, Jørgen “Juulut” Rosbach, said substantial preparatory work has already been completed, including market consultations, cultural heritage reports, financial calculations and legal work.
“The prequalification will be an important indication of whether the interest we have experienced over the past few years can also be converted into real activity,” Rosbach said.
The government expects applications to be due in early 2027. Reviews will then take place, with the prequalified companies expected to be selected later that year.
Applicants will also be subject to foreign investment screening to determine whether their participation could affect national security or public order. The government said the screening is expected to require additional processing time after the application deadline.
