Greenland is seeking European investment in two major hydropower opportunities at Tasersiaq and Tarsartuup Tasersua, ahead of a planned competition to develop the resources.
Jørgen “Juulut” Rosbach, Greenland’s minister for environment, nature, energy and research, visited Berlin and Paris to generate investor interest, according to an October 13 government statement.
“I am working to ensure that these major hydropower resources are developed to create new business opportunities and jobs locally,” Rosbach said.
The government said the opportunities would be offered through a competition in the near future.
In Paris, discussions also focused on strengthening energy self-sufficiency. Both Greenland and France aim to increase domestic energy production, making their supplies more resilient to changes in global markets and international tensions.

The exchanges covered expanding renewable energy, improving energy systems and maintaining large hydropower plants. Rosbach also toured the Roselend–La Bâthie hydropower facility.
“France has more than twice as many years of experience with large hydropower plants as we do in Greenland. There is therefore much we can learn from them,” Rosbach said.
He also highlighted France’s research into energy technologies and its ambitions for greater energy self-sufficiency, describing the exchange of experience as valuable for Greenland.
