Arkadian Strategic Metals Begins AIM Trading Under New AKN Ticker

Arkadian Strategic Metals Plc has begun a new chapter under its updated name and AIM ticker, completing the transition from Alba Mineral Resources as the company places greater emphasis on its strategic metals portfolio.

The London listed company announced on Monday that its change of name to Arkadian Strategic Metals Plc has become effective at Companies House. Its shares are due to trade on AIM under the new ticker AKN from June 8, replacing the former ALBA ticker.

The company’s ISIN and SEDOL remain unchanged, while existing share certificates continue to be valid. Its website has also moved to arkadianmetals.com.

Arkadian is seeking to make its growing exposure to strategic metals clearer while continuing to advance its established Welsh gold assets.

A broader strategic metals identity

Arkadian told GreenlandEnergy.com that the new name was chosen to reflect a broader and more future facing direction.

“We wanted a name that reflects a broader strategic metals focus and a more future facing identity,” the company said. “‘Arkadian’ is a reference to Arcadia, an idea associated with natural landscapes and stewardship. That fits well with our core jurisdictions and with a science led, disciplined approach to advancing assets.”

The company said its Welsh gold projects remain important, but the Arkadian identity better reflects a portfolio that now includes strategic metals alongside heritage gold.

“The shift is about emphasis. We continue to progress our Welsh gold assets, but the new name makes clearer that the Group is building a portfolio that includes strategic metals alongside heritage gold, with a stronger focus on critical minerals relevance and development readiness.”

Motzfeldt becomes increasingly central

Arkadian holds a 51 percent interest in the Motzfeldt Critical Metals Project in South Greenland. The project includes the Aries deposit and a wider pipeline of targets within the same geological system.

The company described Motzfeldt as “a major part of the strategic metals focus,” pointing to its scale, defined resource base and relevance to European supply security discussions.

Motzfeldt is especially notable because it is a multi element system containing niobium, tantalum, zirconium and rare earth elements within the same geological complex.

“The Aries deposit hosts a large JORC Inferred Mineral Resource, and the project also benefits from strong scientific work with academic partners, which helps de risk the geological model and guides practical targeting,” the company said.

Greenland and Western supply chains

The rebrand comes as Greenland’s mineral potential receives growing attention from governments and industry seeking more resilient Western aligned supply chains.

Arkadian said Greenland combines geological potential with a stable regulatory framework and proximity to Europe and North America.

“For projects like Motzfeldt, that means the work we do today data quality, mineralogy, processing route definition, logistics and permitting readiness can be relevant to future supply chain resilience.”

The company said its near term focus at Motzfeldt will be on phased de risking. This includes further beneficiation and mineralogical work, planning for a 2026 field programme, consideration of remote-sensing and hyperspectral options, and continued work on infrastructure and logistics.

The start of trading under the AKN ticker gives Arkadian a clearer identity as it advances that strategy. Welsh gold remains part of the company’s foundation, but Motzfeldt is increasingly central to the story it is presenting to investors and the wider critical minerals market.
