AnorTech says a bathymetric survey has confirmed that its preferred location for a proposed deep-water port at the Gronne Bjerg anorthosite project in Greenland is viable.
The survey, conducted by Asiaq Greenland Survey over five days in September, measured at least 15 metres of water at low tide within 20 metres of the shoreline. AnorTech says that depth could accommodate Panamax-class bulk carriers, which typically require about 12 to 14 meters of draft. The survey covered nearly two kilometres of coastline, and the company says the anorthosite body extends to shore beside the proposed port site. www.globenewswire.com
Gronne Bjerg is about 80 kilometres northeast of Nuuk. AnorTech’s project concept involves shipping material for alumina production in North America and Europe.
