The U.S. Consulate in Nuuk is recruiting nine employees across security, political affairs and development assistance, according to vacancy announcements published by the U.S. Department of State.
The recruitment includes six unarmed guards responsible for protecting consulate personnel and facilities. A separately advertised Guard Force Commander will oversee round-the-clock guard operations covering U.S. government facilities and leased residences in Nuuk.
The consulate is also recruiting a Political Assistant to research and report on Greenlandic political, economic, cultural and social issues and their effect on U.S. interests.
The position includes developing senior contacts across Greenlandic society, supporting visits by U.S. officials and facilitating relationships between visiting officials, Greenlandic authorities and the public.
A fourth vacancy is for a Project Management Assistant for Development Assistance.
That employee will support State Department assistance programs in Greenland, including program monitoring, budget tracking, payments to implementing partners, government outreach and site visits. The responsibilities also include helping prepare country operational plans and conducting basic feasibility reviews.
The four announcements opened between August 14 and 17. Applications for the guards, political assistant and development assistance position close September 13. Applications for the Guard Force Commander close September 14.
