Canadian drilling contractor Stampede Drilling Inc. has confirmed that the rig being prepared for Greenland Energy Co’s proposed Jameson Land exploration program remains in Canada.
In an August 12 statement, Stampede said it has not conducted drilling activity in Greenland, supplied or shipped drilling equipment or materials there, or participated in transporting or landing equipment currently in Greenland.

The company has been preparing and upgrading a Canadian drilling rig for potential future deployment to the Jameson Land Basin. Stampede reiterated that the drilling contract was conditional upon final approval from the Government of Greenland.
“We will not deploy our rig or commence drilling in Greenland unless and until all required regulatory consents and approvals are in place,” the company said.
The statement distinguishes Stampede’s rig and materials from equipment already present in Greenland. It does not indicate that Stampede has withdrawn from the proposed program.
Greenland Energy Co announced on August 11 that the project requires a more extensive regulatory review and that the partners are now working toward a targeted permit timeline of winter 2027
